Every year, World Mental Health Day on October 10th highlights the importance of mental health and well-being. This year’s theme, “Mental Health at Work,” brought attention to creating healthier, more supportive workplaces. At Cynert Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, we marked the occasion with meaningful activities, thanks to our partner, Enable Africa International (EAI), and its CEO, Dr. Evangeline Njoka.

Supporting Knowledge and Growth: A Gift of Books

To foster learning and personal development, Dr. Njoka generously donated 28 books covering essential topics such as health, motivation, leadership, and administration. These resources are now available for use by both our staff and clients, aiming to enrich knowledge and build confidence in vital areas of life. By empowering individuals in this way, we hope to support their mental well-being and inspire growth within our community.

Promoting Mental Health in the Workplace

During her visit, Dr. Njoka took time to engage with Cynert staff and clients, discussing the importance of mental health awareness at work. She emphasized how a supportive workplace can significantly boost well-being, productivity, and collaboration. Her message encouraged us all to prioritize mental health daily and to support each other in maintaining healthy, balanced lives.

Extending Awareness to Kangaru Girls Secondary School

Later that day, Dr. Njoka visited Kangaru Girls Secondary School, where she addressed over 1,000 students and 60 staff members. Her speech focused on the importance of mental health at work, aligning with this year’s theme, and the dangers of drug and substance abuse. Through this conversation, she inspired both students and staff to recognize mental health as a priority and to actively contribute to a supportive community.

A Commitment to Mental Well-Being

We are honored to have Dr. Njoka’s support and are committed to continuing these conversations beyond World Mental Health Day. By fostering awareness, sharing resources, and creating a supportive environment, we aim to promote lasting mental wellness within our hospital and the wider community.

Thank you, Dr. Njoka, for your invaluable contribution and inspiring leadership. Together, we can build a healthier, more supportive future for everyone.
